A Day in the Life of A Florist...

March 14, 2009

This past Saturday, I had the rare opportunity to work as a florist at a wedding. Usually, I am in charge of coordinating the wedding, so this was a wonderful learning experience. I believe that anytime you can walk in the shoes of someone else, it helps you understand a little more of how their piece of the puzzle fits in. We can all agree that flowers used at a wedding usually make a statement but this wedding, the flowers created an experience. It was GORGEOUS!

Jana Stall, with Events in Bloom designed some of the most natural and artistic flowers that I have seen in a long time. She created a table scape on the bridal party table that just carried you away to the most serene and inviting place. I even helped create the centerpieces for the cocktail tables, which were a lot more difficult than you would have thought. I also added the pussy willows on some of the centerpieces that completed the finishing touch. By the time, I was done, I realized even more how much work the florist does to completing the overall look of the location. This bride had an amazing vision! Jana Stall with Events in Bloom really made it come alive!
It was a lot of fun and a beautiful wedding! Enjoy the photos!
They were taken by Limelight Photography! Kudos to Jana Stall with Events in Bloom, you are amazing!!!

Fresh Ideas for a Beach Wedding!

A fresh idea we introduced at one of our beach weddings was the Shoe Valet. We created a drop off point for the guests to take off their shoes and enjoy the ceremony in the sand. We offered brushes and powder to help the guests clean the sand off their feet once the ceremony ended. It worked beautifully! Everyone had a safe place to put their shoes and then clean them off for the reception when they were ready to put on their dancing shoes!

Davis Island Garden Club Bridal Show

Sunday was the Davis Island Garden Club Bridal Show that we were invited to participate in and it was a FABULOUS event! There were so many wonderful vendors in one location it was wonderful for all of the brides who attended. Of course, we were there and set up our own table display. Our table was covered in flowers bursting with hues of orange, yellow and deep apricot over a Tiffany Blue pintuck table cloth. The colors were amazing! We handed out a favor that was a traditional Italian Wedding Wish; which consisted of 5 white Jordan almonds that represented health, wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity for each happy couple.

It was a great day and we really enjoyed every person that we had the pleasure of talking too! Thanks for stopping by and visiting our table! We enjoyed meeting all of you!

We want to send out a special thank you to the vendors who helped us make our display amazing!

Mr. and Mrs. Kramer!!!!

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of watching Keli and Erik become the new Mr. and Mrs. Kramer! It was a beautiful beach wedding out at the Grand Plaza Beach Resort. The color palette was black and white with champagne and lots of bling! The bride loved sparkles and with Swarovski crystals shimmering in the candle light the room was all a glow. There were parasols and paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The flowers were all white and stunning! The centerpieces were 3 Calla Lillies that represented the joining of this new family. The bridal bouquet was made up of Calla Lillies and the bridesmaids all held white flowers that consisted of Dendrobium Orchids, White Tulips, Calla Lillies, and Anemones. Josh with Inspire Entertainment was the DJ and got the party started and kept it going all night long! It was a FABULOUS night! With all of their family and friends, Keli and Erik began their new life together as husband and wife! Thank you for letting me be apart of this most amazing day! It was a beautiful!

*These are just a few photos from the wedding, these are not the professionals they are just pictures we took!
